The Healthy Homes Standards – What You Need to Know

Is your home up to scratch or do you need to do some work?

In July 2019 a new law was put in place to raise the standards of rental properties in New Zealand and it introduced specific minimum standards. How do you find out if you meet these criteria?

The Healthy Homes Landlord Checklist

Tenancy Services have created a Healthy Homes Landlord Checklist to help property owners and tenants ensure their homes meet these standards.
This checklist is a simple guide to see if you need to do some work on your property. Throughout the checklist, you’ll answer yes/no questions about each of the standards: Heating, Insulation, Ventilation, Moisture ingress & drainage and Draught stopping.
Rental Property

  • Private landlords must meet the standards within 90 days of any new or renewed tenancy.
