From Scuba Dive Instructor to Financial Adviser!
Jeremy Doorman grew up in Rotorua, and in fact still lives there today. He enjoys all the quintessential things there are to do in Rotorua like mountain biking and being out on the beautiful lakes! He also likes to help out… he spends a lot of time volunteering at Rotorua Lakes Coastguard where he is currently Unit President. It’s this love of helping others that saw Jeremy progress into a career of Financial Adviser at Rapson.
Let’s rewind a little…before getting into the financial space Jeremy worked overseas and chased summers across the world as a scuba dive instructor. He would travel to where the work was, which often meant working in a tropical climate. After four years of this, Jeremy decided it was time to come back to New Zealand and start a family – ‘growing up’ is what his friends called it!
Jeremy has experience in the banking and financial sector, having worked at ANZ as a Home Lender for nearly five years. He joined Rapson and was an Advisor Support and Credit Analyst while studying towards his accreditation, and now that he has this, is Financial Adviser for Rotorua and will predominantly be based there.
Moving from the bank to Rapson was a logical step for Jeremy as he could help a much broader range of clients than he could at ANZ. Jeremy is relishing in his new role and the fact he is able to put people into a home and support them in that journey.
When asked what he most enjoys about being at Rapson, Jeremy says “It’s the teamwork, camaraderie and the ongoing support from the other advisers, especially as I’m a new adviser myself”.
And any words of wisdom for those looking to make home ownership a reality? Jeremy replies “Yes, you might just have to knuckle down, but you may be closer than you actually think. So give me a call and organise a meeting to see where you’re at and how we can get you where you need to be”.
